2 Euro Coin Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of “The Little Prince”
With his story “Le Petit Prince” (The Little Prince), French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry published one of the most successful literary works on friendship and morality in 1943. However, due to World War II, sales in France did not officially begin until 1946.
The famous protagonist, alongside a portrait of Saint-Exupéry, was already depicted on France’s last 50 francs banknote. Now, the Monnaie de Paris has minted a 2 euro commemorative coin to mark the 80th anniversary of “The Little Prince.” It is available in a limited edition on four different coin cards, each featuring different motifs from the Little Prince’s adventures.
