Namibia has introduced a new coin set

The designs of the 2025 coins provide an interesting insight into the country.

Due to its breathtaking nature, Namibia is one of the most popular safari destinations in all of Africa. The country's name is derived from the Namib Desert. It is the oldest desert in the world and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to the native animals, special attractions include the dead trees in the Namib Sand Sea.
In August 2025, the Bank of Namibia introduced a new set of Namibian dollar coins, which are now also in our portfolio. The motifs depict the country's most important economic sectors: pearl millet ears as a symbol of agriculture, the sun and a wind turbine for renewable energies, a dead camel thorn tree in the Deadvlei clay pan for tourism, two hands exchanging coins for trade, and a diamond (rough and cut) for mining. The 1 dollar bimetallic coin has a latent image as a security feature.
