The world's smallest internationally recognized state is no ordinary country. The Vatican City State is the seat of the Pope and thus the global center of the Catholic Church. With the Lateran Treaties in 1929, the Vatican officially gained its independence from Italy and, among other things, the right to mint its own coins.

This unique program includes the silver coins of the Vatican Lira. Currently, 16 different issues from the pontificates of Paul VI and John Paul II as well as the period of the vacancy of the Apostolic See are available. The motifs include portraits and coats of arms of the popes and depictions of important Bible passages.
