Silver Coins of the Summer Olympic Games
Silver coins commemorating the Summer Olympics in the host country were first issued in Finland in 1952. No silver coins were issued by the host countries in 1956 and 1960. It was not until the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo that the minting of silver coins commemorating the Summer Olympics was introduced as a permanent tradition. In some cases, there were different designs with different denominations, while other countries only issued one commemorative coin for the respective games.
