Europe has come a long way to the introduction of a common currency. The last century in particular was marked by unprecedented changes. In addition to the world wars that overshadowed everything, many countries experienced far-reaching transformations in politics and society. The coins issued at the time bear witness to this chapter of European history.

This program comprises the historical silver coins with the nominal value of 1 from 12 European countries issued in the 19th and 20th centuries. All of them are circulation coins. They depict the portraits of monarchs of the time, traditional symbols and national coats of arms.
